Bathurst resident, Ashley Bland has been selected to appear on the cover of this year’s Bathurst White Pages® and Yellow Pages® book, which will be distributed throughout Orange, Bathurst, Lithgow, Cowra, Mudgee, Young and surrounding townships from next week.

The theme for this year’s covers, Australians Creating a Better Future, recognises people throughout Australia who have made a positive contribution to their community through projects or initiatives that help to make a better future for Australia. These projects have contributed environmentally, economically and/or socially to the local community and will benefit the next generation of Australians.

Ashley’s selection recognises his contribution as voluntary Chair of Greening Bathurst, and his work with the Flannery Centre in creating a better and more sustainable environment for the community.

As Project Manager of the Flannery Centre, Ashley helps individuals and groups develop and build sustainable businesses, buildings, landscapes and lifestyles, providing them with advice and ideas on how to achieve these objectives.

Ashley’s passion for the environment extends to his voluntary work where he is Chairman of the not-for-profit group, Greening Bathurst, Together with a team of enthusiastic volunteers, Ashley helps organise tree planting days, field days, seminars and education campaigns, in an effort to raise the profile of Greening Bathurst in the community.

“Looking after the local environment is so important, not only for the current residents but for the future generations. I am glad to see Sensis has chosen to recognise the importance of this issue and I feel honoured to represent many in the community who are doing great work for a sustainable future,” said Ashley.

Ashley’s contribution and success has been recognised by his former high school, who have rewarded him with a Decade Award for his achievements since graduating in 1990.
