White Pages Covers Program
White Pages® celebrates the Karoonda Farm Fair with Ray and Lynette Bald
March 24, 2011
Karoonda district residents, Ray and Lynette Bald have been selected to appear on the cover of this year’s Barossa Valley Yellow Pages® and White Pages® book which will be distributed throughout Barossa Valley, Murray Lands, Riverland, Kangaroo Island and surrounding towns from 12 March 2011.
Each year, Sensis, the publisher of the Yellow Pages® and White Pages®, recognises the contribution of local residents in the community by featuring them on the cover of its books.
The theme for this year’s covers, Australians Creating a Better Future, recognises people throughout Australia who have made a positive contribution to their community through projects or initiatives that help to make a better future for Australia. These projects have contributed environmentally, economically and/or socially to the local community and will benefit the next generation of Australians.
Ray and Lynette’s selection recognises their contribution to the Karoonda Farm Fair, which began in 1985.
For over 25 years, Ray and Lynette Bald have been behind the Karoonda Farm Fair, a two-day fair which features over 350 exhibitors and showcases local produce, clothing, craft, children’s toys and gardening products.
The Balds have helped grow the event from a local sheep fair, to an event that attracts over 10,000 people and generates approximately $30,000 annually to the Karoonda economy.
With the support of 15 other committee members, Ray and Lynette strive to further promote the Murray region.
“The Karoonda Farm Fair encourages community spirit and helps lift morale in a region that has been in drought for the past decade. Whilst we are humbled to be recognised for our contribution, it really isn’t without the support of the committee,” said Ray.
