As the world awaits the release of the iPhone 5 mobile digital device and the mass hysteria it will bring, White Pages® is taking stock of its own evolution from a simple phone book to a red-hot digital resource.

Launched in 1880 as an alphabetical list of phone numbers, the White Pages® became Australia’s first classified business directory – as the Pink Pages – in the 1920s. When the Yellow Pages® was introduced in 1975, the White Pages® book took on its present form as Australia’s address book.

In 1995 White Pages® Online became the world’s first online directory. Its tentacles now reach into a wide range of media portals.

These days you can access the White Pages® on a range of digital media including:

-          Mobile phones using White Pages® Mobile or, if you have an iPhone or Android phone, the White Pages® app anywhere you have Internet access

-          iPad mobile digital devices and other tablets

-          Telstra’s ever-useful THub

With all these ways to access the White Pages®, it’s not surprising that more than 5.5 million users1 access the White Pages® Network* every week.

And its not just phone numbers and addresses that are available through the White Pages®.  Many business listings on White Pages® Online now include additional content and information, such as opening hours, product information and links to their website.

And just like the iPhone, White Pages® has gone “social”. White Pages® digital products allow users to share search results via email, SMS, Facebook® and Twitter® – you can even create a Facebook® event without leaving White Pages®. Why not set one up at your local Apple retailer to get your hands on one of the first iPhone 5 handsets released?

No matter how the digital sphere evolves, White Pages® will be there – helping to keep Australians connected.
