Tips for getting through winter
June 20, 2011
It is a fact that over winter we all tend to move into ‘hibernation’. Putting a little effort into keeping our spirits high can go a long towards ensuring we enjoy winter. For many of us, it’s simply a matter of peeling ourselves off the couch and making the most of it.
However, for some people, winter can become a debilitating and isolating time. White Pages® shines a light with some helpful information on beating the dreaded winter blues.
- Exercise: We all know a good work out helps you release those ‘feel good’ hormones and it’s also a great stress relieving tool. Add to that looking great and staying healthy, and you will be sure to keep those winter blues at bay with a bit of regular exercise. So find the contact details of your local gym in White Pages® and get moving!
- Sunshine: On short cold winter days it can be a struggle to get your recommended daily intake of Vitamin D. Try to spend a little more time outdoors this winter and, like exercise, regular sunlight will liberate those happy hormones and lift your mood. Check the daily forecast on whitepages.com.au/info/weather and when the sun is shining, get out there and make the most of it!
- Diet: What and when you eat also has a great effect on your mood and energy. Sadly, the foods you often crave in winter are the ones that zap your energy levels. Find your neighbourhood veggie shop in the White Pages® and keep it fresh and healthy this winter to give your body (and mind) nutrition it needs.
With all this in check, don’t forget to embrace the season with some guilt free indoors time spent relaxing with friends. Use the White Pages® My List tool to keep an inventory of your preferred salon, spa and hairdresser so you feel pampered from head to toe. Keep track of cafes and restaurants with open fireplaces so night’s out are warm and cozy as well as your favourite boutiques for a little retail therapy when the stock-take sales start to roll by.
Don’t forget to share your White Pages® lists with friends so they too can enjoy the best winter warming hot spots!
