Huw Kingston’s passion for reducing environmental impacts led him to establish the ‘Bundy on Tap’ project.

In 2009, a record 350 residents attended a town meeting to support the initiative to make Bundanoon a bottled-water free town.

Since then, Huw has dedicated countless hours to the project, from sourcing sponsors to promoting the initiative, educating residents and organising the installation of water stations. He has also been instrumental in growing the movement worldwide.

Away from ‘Bundy on Tap’, Huw runs an adventure tourism business renowned for the flagship event, The Highland Fling. As Australia’s largest mountain bike race, it was the first cycling event in the country to be completely carbon neutral in 2007.

The Fling attracts over 3,000 visitors to the Bundanoon region, helping stimulate the local tourism and hospitality industries, whilst raising significant funds for community projects.

Huw’s reputation as an environmental pioneer has seen him recognised locally and abroad, including being listed as one of Time Magazine’s 25 Worldwide Responsibility Pioneers in 2009.

Did you know? The last three local people to appear on the Goulburn Yellow Pages® and White Pages® cover were:

2009/10: Braidwood resident, Suzie Bleach, appeared on the cover under the theme Creative Australians: Inspiring our Communities. Suzie is an inspirational member of the community who dedicates her time to the metal arts program for Mulwarree High School and recently achieved acclaim for her work with the 2008 Sculpture by the Sea exhibition.

2008/09: Father Michael O’Halloran, owner and operator of the Goulburn Brewery graced the Celebrating Australian Flavour theme cover for his help in boosting the local economy and promoting the Goulburn region through its Goulburn-branded beer.
