Many of us are familiar with the White Pages® Book in helping us find names, addresses and phone numbers - after all it’s been around for 130 years - What some people don’t know is that White Pages® Book also includes other handy information within such as “numbers you need”, Local area info, government info and postcode listings.

Numbers you need

Ever had difficulty finding details for a local charity group, health provider or the phone number for your gas and electricity supplier? A  task that should take five minutes can end up taking much longer than expected.  Next time, just remember your White Pages® Book.

The Numbers You Need section at the front of your White Pages® Book provides contact details for a range of community services and advice groups. This includes listings for:

  • 24 hour emergency service units such as State Emergency Service, road hazards and workplace emergencies
  • Counselling and personal emergency organisations
  • Services for the disabled and elderly
  • Public hospital locations, and
  • International dialling codes

Your local area

If you live in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney, the Your City section of your book will provide you with local attractions, CBD and venue maps, and public transport information to help you get around. So, if you have out-of-towners visiting, your White Pages® Book will help you guide them around the city and organise access to local attractions.  All you have to do is choose where you want to go.  

For those living in other areas, most White Pages® Books have a What’s On section. Find out all the activities you can do around town and can mark them on your calendar so you don’t miss your favourite event of the year.  

Your Government

With so many different areas of government it can be a tough task to get in touch with the right one. The Your Government pages in your White Pages® Book categorises the various departments and agencies so if you can’t remember the exact name, you can search under:

  • Australian (Federal) Government – an alphabetical listing of federal government departments and agencies
  • State Government – an alphabetical listing of state government departments and agencies
  • Government index – a topic based index to direct you to the right government body

The Local Council Map will also outline all the councils in your region, their location and a guide of all the different services associated with each council.

Postcode listing

The postcode listing at the back of your White Pages® Book will help you find the location and postcode of all the suburbs in Australia. So, next time you’re posting that birthday package for your family and friend across town or interstate, locating their postcode will be easy.
