White Pages Covers Program
Courageous Australian Don Angelosante to appear on Goulburn's Yellow Pages® and White Pages®
June 3, 2010
Each year, locals are featured on the covers of the Yellow Pages® and White Pages® directories in recognition of the contributions they make to their communities. Under the theme Courageous Australians, this year directories producer, Sensis, is recognising courageous people who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to overcome adversity and help others in their time of need.
After receiving nominations from community members for the annual honour, Marulan resident, Don Angelosante has been selected to appear on the cover of this year’s Goulburn directory which is distributed to Bowral, Braidwood, Crookwell, Goulburn, Mittagong and Moss Vale.
Don Angelosante has protected the Goulburn community for over 40 years serving as captain with Big Hill Fire Brigade, and currently as deputy captain with Marulan Bush Fire Brigade.
After seeing many lives lost, Don obtained his first aid certificate in order to attend to victims of car accidents along the Hume Highway. He has often been the first official at an accident and administered treatment to many local motorists as a crew leader and safety and first aid volunteer.
Don also volunteers with the Goulburn Police Community Youth Club, mentors children in a range of sports and coordinates community clean-ups and working bees. Each year, as a fire wise facilitator, Don travels to schools and teaches over 1,200 children fire safety and the importance of dialling 000 during an emergency.
“I love giving back to the community that has been my home for the past 40 years. It is so important for kids to know the importance of fire safety and I feel it is my responsibility to educate them on this,” said Don.
Don continues to raise funds for local events and programs in the Goulburn community.
Distribution of Goulburn Yellow Pages® and White Pages® is planned to start on 5 June 2010 and it will take approximately six weeks for the directories to be delivered to all households.
Yellow Pages® and White Pages® print and online directories are now carbon neutral under the government’s Greenhouse Friendly™ program. Sensis will offset the carbon emissions of its directories through Greenhouse Friendly™ accredited providers and projects in Australia.
Sensis encourages residents and businesses to recycle their old directories. In most areas, Yellow Pages® and White Pages® can be recycled as part of normal kerbside recycling services. Visit www.recyclingnearyou.com.au to find out about recycling services in your area.
