Celebrating Australians Creating a Better Future
February 7, 2011
Starting next week, the 2011 White Pages® directories will start arriving at regional Australian homes and businesses. As you bring it into your home, pay particular attention to the person on the front cover - it could be your neighbour, friend, family member, colleague or acquaintance who has been recognised for helping to save and sustain the world we live in.
This year’s theme, Australians Creating a Better Future, was chosen to celebrate those people who are doing extraordinary things to make your community and environment better for now and in the future. The covers will feature people who are passionate about creating a better future and are contributing to their local and wider communities through economic, social and environmental activities. White Pages® chose this theme in support of our commitment to sustainability.
The selection task has been tough. There were many nominations received and with so many remarkable residents contributing to their communities, it was a challenge to decide between these amazing people. A project team spent five months researching every book region to find the local champion who personified the Australian Creating a Better Future theme.
In these five months, the team telephoned and emailed over 300 individuals, organisations and councils, interviewed around 250 candidates and in the end, uncovered 70 amazing community members.
Featured on the new directories across Australia, you’ll discover inspiring and dedicated individuals who are investing their own time and resources to improving unique environments, stimulating local economies and making a difference with difficult social issues.
It’s incredible to see how many devoted and enthusiastic individuals shape a community and make a positive contribution, through education and action.
After hundreds of hours of research and careful selection to find these individuals for the 2011/12 White Pages® covers, we can’t wait to share the extraordinary Australians Creating a Better Future.
Make sure you visit the Covers Program section of the site for regular updates on these great Australians.
