Australia's Oscar-themed surnames uncovered
February 20, 2012
He’s the golden man of the month, and with the help of White Pages®, you might be able to track down your own Oscar on Australia’s shores ahead of the Academy Awards on February 26.
With a simple search on White Pages® Online or a flick through the White Pages® Book, you won’t just uncover around 30 Oscars in Australia, but also some Oscar nominees to cheer on.
Nominated for Best Actress for her turn playing Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn, Michelle Williams is in good company down under with more than 30,000 Williamses listed on White Pages® Residential Search.
Glenn Close, nominated for Best Actress for Albert Nobbs, has 660 Closes to cheer her on, while Viola Davis of The Help has more than 11,400 Davises to barrack for her in the Oscar race.
The men up for the gold statuette don’t have quite as much Aussie support, with only 50 Oldmans listed on White Pages® Residential Search to support Gary’s Best Actor nomination for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and only a handful of Clooney’s to get behind George’s nomination for The Descendants.
Thankfully, Brad Pitt is in better company, with 1200 Pitts down under to barrack for his Best Actor nomination for Moneyball.
If voting was left up to the public, Midnight in Paris director Woody Allen would be a hot prospect for Best Director with the support of the more than 11,000 Allens listed in Australia. Moneyball’s Jonah Hill would also be a hot contender for Best Supporting Actor with more than 11,100 Aussie Hills behind him.
No matter how far from Hollywood’s red carpet your life down under might be, this Academy Awards ceremony take solace in the fact you might just have something in common with an Oscar nominee – your surname.
